Ironworkers take training to a new level

The Ironworkers Apprenticeship program encompasses over 600 hours of training in the classroom and hands-on, over the course of three years. However, apprentices from Local No. 404 receive additional training. They have the unique ability to train alongside Operating Engineers apprentices from Local No. 542 (Philadelphia, PA) at their training facility in Bernville, PA.

Harrisburg Local 404 to Send Two Candidates to St. Paul

Ben Maneval, of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA (Snyder County) and Kerry Stokes of Loysville, PA (Perry County) will represent the Ironworkers District Council of Philadelphia at the 2018 National Apprentice Competition being held September 19 – 22 in Minnesota.  The Competition will be hosted by the North Central States District Council and held at Local 512, (835 Pierce Butler Route, St. Paul, MN 55104).


History of Labor Day from Iron Workers Local 404

As a celebration of the American worker, Labor Day provides the opportunity to commemorate the accomplishments of the Labor movement. Without this movement, and more specifically unions, common workplace improvements like OSHA, child labor laws, paid holiday, a 40-hour work week, even the idea of a weekend would not exist. On Monday, September 3, this national holiday turns 124 years.
